She went to him and said, that if he will help her to release her husband from the captivity of Ata Mohammad, the ruler of Kashmir, then she promised to give him the precious Kohinoor diamond she had.

deal to free king

Maharaja Ranjit Singh knew that Kohinoor Diamond had no value, Kohinoor was priceless. So he invaded Kashmir to get Kohinoor and after defeating the ruler of Kashmir, Shahsuja Namak, the ruler of Afghanistan, was freed from imprisonment.

Maharaja Ranjit Singh freed Shah Suja from the imprisonment of Ata Mohammad. But as promised, Begam Shahsuja did not gave Kohinoor to Maharaja Ranjit Singh. She was reluctant to give the Kohinoor hero to him.

So many days were passed as Wafa Begum informed Maharaja Ranjit Singh that Kohinoor would be given today and tomorrow. After a long time she gave Kohinoor diamond to him. When Maharaja Ranjit Singh saw Kohinoor, he realized that is was a fake Kohinoor diamond.

He realized that he had been tricked. He decided in his mind that he will trap her the way Wafa Begum has trapped him. He came to know that the real Kohinoor was hidden in the turban of the ruler named Shah Suja. So he went to Shah Suja's court.

Kohinoor is turban

There he started telling him that they are now both friends. So, both of them put turbans on each other, saying that they should keep friendship by wearing turbans on each other. At that time, Maharaja Ranjit Singh removed the Kohinoor from Shah Suja's turban so cleverly that no one noticed and the Kohinoor Diamond had come to Maharaja Ranjit Singh.

How Kittur Rani Chennamma brought the Britishers on knees?

Standard

Hello reader friends, How are you all I hope everyone is good and being healthy. Today from our Indian History, we are going to talk about a women freedom fighter Kittur Rani Chennamma:

  • who brought the Britishers to their knees and demanded amnesty.
  • whose name comes earlier than Rani Lakshmibai of Jhansi.

Let's know about such brave and valiant Queen Chennamma.

Kittur Rani Chennamma

Who was Kittur Rani Chennamma?

Kittur Rani Chennamma was born in Belgaum, Karnataka, India on 23 October 1778 to Gulappa Desai. From childhood, she was different from other girls. She played less with her friends and was fond of horse riding, sword fighting, archery. So her father Gulappa made her very proficient in weaponry.

Her weaponry skills took her ahead a lot. She was proficient in weapons and scriptures and was also beautiful in appearance. When she was suitable for marriage, her father found a suitable idol and married her to King Mallasarj of Kittur (in Karnataka).

Under what circumstance did Rani Chennamma have to take over the throne of Kittur?

The married life of Rani Chennamma and Raja Mallasarj was going on happily. One day in a happy life, King Mallasarj died suddenly. The throne of Kittur had fallen vacant and the throne could not be kept vacant. Also they didn't have any son for the manage the throne.

Shivalinga, the son of King Mallasarja's second wife Rudramma, was set on the throne. But he also died within a year. Now the throne of Kittur could not be left vacant so Chennamma herself took over the throne of Kittur.

Why did the British want to take over Kittur?

The British had laid down the law in India at that time that if a town did not have a king or a king's heir to take over the throne, the British would take over that town. The state grab policy of the British was also called the Khalsa policy. The town of Kittur was also without a male king and a widowed queen was ruling on the throne of Kittur.

Thacker, a british officer, came to know that Rani Chennamma was ruling on the throne. The British already knew that Kittur was rich in treasure. The British had been preparing to loot that treasure for a long time. So the British wanted to take possession of Kittur.

Why did Rani Chennamma decide to go to war with the British?

As Thacker came to know that there is no king but a queen ruling in Kittur town, he immediately wrote a letter to Chennamma, Queen of Kittur. He said that the rule of Kittur should be handed over to the British and if not handed over, the British would invade Kittur.

writing letter

As soon as Rani Chennamma received the letter, a meeting was called in the court and the war was discussed. The preparations for the war were started by calling the generals and soldiers of Kittur. Kittur Rani Chennamma wrote a letter to reply to Thacker and refused to hand over the kingdom.

How Kittur Rani Chennamma brought the Britishers on knees?

Rani Chennamma straight away refused to hand over her kingdom to the British. So General Thacker invaded Kittur with his troops. He considered Rani Chennamma to be a weak woman. But she fought so bravely with her army that Thacker had to leave his arms and run away.

Battle Field

Losing the battle with Rani Chennamma, Thacker did not sit still. He again invaded Kittur two days later. But again Kittur Rani Chennamma defeated the British army with her full strength and the help of the general.

Rani Chennamma, on the other hand, cut the enemy's throats with her sword and captured many of the soldiers. But the British soldiers fell on their knees to Rani Chennamma and asked Rani Chennamma for forgiveness. Rani Chennamma took pity on the soldiers and left them.

How Rani Chennamma was defeated by the British?

The British lost twice in the war with Kittur Rani Chennamma. Kittur was a small town and the British could not bear to lose to a woman. So the British were preparing to re-invade Kittur. Thacker lured some of the greedy people of Kittur towards himself. Enemies mixed water in Kittur's ammunition so that it could not be used in battle.

Even so, Rani Chennamma was not at all afraid of the enemy and fought bravely. Rani Chennamma was eventually imprisoned due to the cannon ammunition not being used in time and the traitorous people.

Conclusion:

In this article we have seen that even after the death of her husband and son, Kittur Rani Chennamma strengthened her mind by forgetting all her sorrows and was ready to face the British to save Kittur. If some greedy people had not supported the British, the history of Kittur would have been different today.

Rani Chennamma was fighting for her country even while being imprisoned by the British and died in captivity on 21 February 1829. Even today "Kittur Utsav" is celebrated every year from 22nd to 24th October in memory of Kittur Rani Chennamma in Karnataka, India

How Yashwantrao Holkar easily defeated the British?

Standard

hello friends, how are you all. I hope everyone is having fun and being healthy. Today, in the series of Ancient Indian Kings, we are going to talk about Yashwantrao Holkar, a king

  • who used to fight with gorilla warfare like Shivaji.
  • who managed alone to fight with british.
  • the British were so afraid of him that they entered into a treaty with him without making any kind of agreement with him.

Let us try to know the history of such a great warrior Yashwantrao Holkar today.

Yashwantrao Holkar

Who was Yashwantrao Holkar?

Yashwantrao Holkar was born on 3 December 1776 to Tukojirao Holkar in Maharashtra. Tukojirao ruled Indore after Rani Ahlyabai Holkar. Tukojirao Holkar had four sons, the eldest son being Kashirao Holkar.

So the rule of Indore was handed over to Kashirao Holkar. But the general and other responsible persons of the state did not trust Kashirao Holkar. So Yashwantrao Holkar was given the rulership of Indore.

How did the British subjugate the kings?

The Mughals were also weakened against the British at that time. The British were coming to India and running their rule. Taking advantage of the weakness of the kings, the British used to sign agreements.

The British used to take away the rule and property of the kings from the kings and gave them money to the king in the form of pension every month. The kings lived as kings but the British used to run their own laws.

Why did the kings not support Yashwantrao Holkar to fight against the British?

The British came to India and established their dominance very strongly. The British were always victorious in their battles with the Marathas and Peshwas. So Yashwantrao Holkar thought of defeating the British by making the kings as friend and forgetting the enmity of his enemy king.

king's meeting

In order to defeat the British conquering India, Yashwantrao Holkar wrote a letter to Doltarao Scindia, Bajirao Dritiya, as well as other kings and asked them to unite and fight against the British. But all the kings had already signed treaties with the British. So fearing the British, all the kings refused to support Yashwantrao Holkar in fighting against the British.

How Yashwantrao Holkar easily defeated the British?

Yashwantrao Holkar did not get the support of the kings. So he was preparing alone to fight the British. He along with his comrades used guerrilla tactics. They used to hide so cleverly in the mountain roads that they would suddenly attack the British when they came in front of them.

attack in rain

The enemy was not even given time to draw his sword. Yashwantrao Holkar deliberately chose to fight in the rainy season. So it was difficult to drag British weapons like cannons in the mud. Weapons containing incendiary material could be extinguished by rain, making warfare easier.

How did the British managed to defeat Yashwantrao Holkar?

Yashwantrao Holkar suffocated the British in many battles. He defeated the British very badly in the battle of Jaipur. So the British took the help of his special man Bhawani Shankar Khatri. Enticing Bhawani Shankar Khatri, the British took him over and then fought the war. Because of that, it was easy for the British to defeat Yashwantrao Holkar.

Why did Ranjit Singh left Yashwantrao Holkar?

Losing the war with the British, Yashwantrao Holkar once again sought help from the kings. But none of the kings came to help him due to the fear of the British. Only Ranjit Singh of Bharatpur helped him.

Again Yashwantrao Holkar and Ranjit Singh were defeating the British in battle. They both defeated the British in the battle so badly that news of the British defeat reached London.

The British general thought that if they both stayed together, the defeat of the British was certain. So to alienate Yashwantrao Holkar and Ranjit Singh, the British general started harassing the people of Bharatpur. So Ranjit Singh left him and made a treaty with the British.

Conclusion:

In this article we have seen that even if Yashwantrao Holkar was alone, he managed to defeat the British with his cunning, cleverness and guerilla policy. The British were so afraid of his war policy that they made a treaty with him without any understanding.

British had also given back the state won by Yashvantrao Holka. They not only want to defeat the British in war but also wanted to drive them out of India. So Yashwantrao Holkar was planning to build many cannon factories in Indore. But Yashwantrao Holkar died on 27 October 1811 due to illness.

So, how did you like this article about Yashwantrao Holkar? Which was your favorite paragraph in this article? If you wish to add something, then do comment in comment section.

How Chandra Shekhar Azad never got capture alive by British?

Standard

Happy Independence Day to all my readers. May our journey ahead be guided by unity, progress and unwavering respect for our country. Today in the blog of Gaurav Sangrah, we will be discussing about a very special Freedom Fighter Chandra Shekhar Azad. You may have heard or seen many great people of India but this freedom fighter is like this:

  • british government was humiliated after hearing him,
  • british could never caught him alive,
  • he used to change his disguise so cunningly to get away from the police, and the police did not even notice.

So let's get information about our country's freedom fighter.

Chandra Shekhar Azad

Who was Chandra Shekhar Azad?

Chandra Shekhar Azad was born on 23 July 1906 in Madhya Pradesh to Sitaram Tiwari and Jagranidevi in a Brahmin family. His father himself was a Sanskrit scholar, so his father thought that his son would also become a learned scholar, so Chandra Shekhar Azad was sent to Varanasi to study. As he grew up, he was getting to know how much the British were oppressing the people in the country and how much injustice is being done by them.

Since then, he had made a firm mindset that he have to do something for the country. At that time, Gandhiji of the Congress Party wanted to free the country from the British slavery through non-violence. So Gandhiji started the non-cooperation movement in the country and Chandra Shekhar also joined it.

How did Chandra Shekhar Azad introduce himself to the judge?

Chandra Shekhar Azad was 15 years old when he joined the non-cooperation movement started by Gandhiji even though he was still a student. The sepoys reached the place where the non-cooperation movement was going on and arrested all those involved in the movement. He was also caught in that arrest.

In the arrest, some were sentenced to imprisonment and some ended up in jail. But since Chandra Shekhar Azad was young, he was presented before the judge in court. Then the judge told that you are still a young boy, your age is to study, not to agitate.

Chandrashekhar then said that he can do anything to free his country, even he is ready to die but he don't want to be a slave of British. This answer made the judge again ask angrily "what is your name boy?" He boldly replied to the judge 'My name is Azad'.

Angry Judge

The judge again asked another question to him in anger, what is your father's name? He proudly replied 'My father's name is Independence.' Then judge got more angry and asked him 'Do you know your home address?' Again he proudly said that his home address is a jail. Such answers of his greatly insulted the judge.

How Chandra Shekhar Tiwari came to be known as Chandra Shekhar Azad?

The judge found that answers given by Chandrashekhar in the court very insulting. So the judge got angry and sentenced him to 15 lashes. After hearing the sentence, everyone present in the court was angry with the judge as to why such an innocent boy was given such a painful punishment. But no one could cause any harm of those who walk in the path of righteousness.

While the sepoys were whipping Chandrashekhar, they were chanting 'Vande Mataram' on each blow as if he had no effect. His whole body was covered in blood when he came out after being whipped, but his face did not show any displeasure. From that day his name was followed by Azad and he became Chandrashekhar Azad from Chandrashekhar Tiwari.

Why did Chandra Shekhar Azad robbed the Kakori train?

The non-cooperation movement was abruptly called off over the Chauri Chaura Kant. So Chandra Shekhar became a member of Azad Hindustan Republican Association. In it, he was entrusted with the task of collecting money for the organization.

Kakori Train

The members of the organization used to raise money especially by robbing the government treasury of the British. There, Chandra Shekhar learns that a train running from Sarangpur to Lucknow is going to carry boxes full of British government money.

So he and Ramprasad Prasad Bismil plans to rob the train with his accomplices with the help of Bismil and also robs the train near Kakori. When the British came to know that the train had been robbed, they were looking for the train robbers day and night. Nine people included in the scandal were their names.

  1. Rajendra Lahiri
  2. Sachindra Bakshi
  3. Mukrindi Lal
  4. Murari Sharma
  5. Thakur Roshan Singh
  6. Banwari Lal
  7. Ashfaq Ullakha
  8. Manmathanath Gupta
  9. Chandra Shekhar Azad

The British captured eight of them but Chandra Shekhar Azad did not fall into the hands of the British.

Why Chandra Shekhar Azad made Jhansi the center of organizational activities?

After the Kakori kand, the British were looking for Chandra Shekhar everywhere. So he changed the name of his organization to Hindustan Socialist Republican Association and himself also lived in disguise. He lived with his companions in the forest area of Jhansi to escape from the British.

Pandit Harishankar started living in a hut by the name of Brahmachari on the bank of river Satar in the forest. He taught children there and also practiced marksmanship with his colleagues.

How Chandra Shekhar Azad never got capture alive by British?

His exceptional wit, strategic skills, and immense dedication to the Indian independence movement played crucial roles in evading British capture. His ability to swiftly change locations, utilize disguises, and maintain a network of informants made him an elusive target for the British authorities.

It was February 27, 1931. Chandrashekhar was sitting with his friend Sukhdev in the Alfred Park of Allahabad and discussing the release of Bhagat Singh who was captured by the British. There, his fellow rebelled Veerbhadra Tiwari, who used to work with Chandrashekhar's organization but fell apart for some reason, sees him sitting in the park and informs the police that Chandrashekhar is meeting with his accomplice at Alfred Park.

The police listen to Veerabhadra and prepare to capture Chandrashekhar as capturing him was like capturing a terrifying tiger for the British. British soldiers gets afraid to face him. So the British reached Alfred Park with their team and surrounded the park. But Chandrashekhar comes to know that the British have surrounded him.

The British showered Chandrashekhar with bullets. Chandrashekhar was also facing the British bullets but he did not got the chance to escape from the park. But he saved his friend Sukhdev Raj in the park and sent him away from the British.

He fought single-handedly against the British for fifteen to twenty minutes in Azad Park, injuring several policemen. When he realizes that there is only one bullet left in his gun, he kills himself by shooting the last bullet. But he did not come into the hands of the British till he was alive.

Why was Chandra Shekhar Azad's funeral not informed to the public?

The British were afraid to keep his dead body for long. Since they don't want any trouble from his companions, they sent the body to Rasulabad Ghat for last rites. But when people came to know, people raised slogans against the British and the bravery of Chandra Shekhar.

Conclusion:

We have seen in this article that Chandra Shekhar Azad became a revolutionary from his childhood to bring freedom to the country. He changed several guises and suffocated the British. He even said that 'I am free and I will remain free' for India and he showed it by doing, the British government could not capture him alive. Even today, the gun with which he shot himself can be seen in the Allahabad Museum.

Why did Subhash Chandra Bose created "Swaraj Party"?

Standard

Hello friend, how are you all? I hope you all are good and healthy. Welcome to Gaurav Sangrah. Today in this article of Indian History we are going to talk about Subhash Chandra Bose, a leader

  • who completed four years of studies in just seven months.
  • who left the job of ICS and came back to India.
  • whose name alone scared Britishers.
  • who was not afraid to kill his British teacher.
  • nobody could know the secret of his death till the end.

Let us continue the stories of the great revolutionary leader of our country.

Subhash Chandra Bose

Who was Subhash Chandra Bose?

Subhash Chandra Bose was born in a wealthy family in the city of Cuttack, Orissa on 23 January 1897. From childhood, he was very gifted in studies. He passed the matriculation examination and went to the Presidency College, Calcutta for further studies. He stood second in the B.A. examination at the University of Calcutta. After that, he went to London to prepare for ICS (Indian Civil Service) on his father's request.

He completed the four-year ICS course in just seven months and secured fourth in that. In London, he surprised the British by passing the ICS examination in the fourth position. Another blow was given to the British when they heard that Subhash Chandra Bose was returning to India after leaving the ICS job.

Why Subhash Chandra Bose left the job of ICS in London?

The British were oppressing the poor citizens of the country very badly. In many places in the country, the British were seen putting up "No Dogs and No Indians" boards. The British increased taxes on most items which were becoming too difficult for the poor to afford. Back then, deadly diseases, cholera was spreading in the country.

If the poor people of the country do not have money for two meals, how can they cure the disease. Many people of the country lost their lives in the terrible disease. Such a state of the country was happening before the eyes of Subhash Chandra Bose. So he thought of leaving the ICS job in London to serve the backward and underprivileged people of the country.

Why did Subhash Chandra Bose created "Swaraj Party"?

Subhash Chandra Bose was determined to liberate the country, so he joined the Congress party with Gandhiji. But being in the Congress Party, he saw that a movement like non-cooperation would take a lot of time to liberate the country. If the country wants to be freed from the British soon, some lives will have to be given and some will have to be taken, then only the country will be freed soon.

Thinking like this, Subhash Chandra left Gandhiji's party and formed a separate party of his own. That party included members like Chitradana Das, M.R. Jayakal, Usha Mehta, Motilal Nehru along with Subhash Chandra Bose. And that party was named "Swaraj Party". The British were suffering a lot from the Swaraj Party.

The British were afraid that if the Swaraj Party remained, it would inflame the entire country, so the party was declared illegal and closed. And among the party members who ended up in jail included Subhash Chandra Bose. Subhash Chandra Bose was not among those people who offers another cheek by getting a slap on one cheek, but he believed that if anyone tried to do so, they should be slapped on both cheeks.

What trick Subhash Chandra Bose used to get out from the jail?

While in jail, Subhash Chandra was thinking of a trick to get out of jail soon. Subhash Chandra was thinking of giving up food and drink in jail so his body would get weak and due to weakness he would leave the jail soon and this trick worked.

The British thought that if anything happened to Subhash Chandra Bose in jail, people would be more outraged, so he was released from jail. The British released him from jail but kept him under house arrest, monitoring his movements.

But Subhash Chandra Bose, seeing nothing less, was secretly going abroad overnight with the help of his brother Sharad Shandra without informing anyone. The British were left looking for Subhash Chandra in the country.

How did Subhash Chandra Bose prepare his army in India while staying in abroad?

Subhash Chandra traveled from India through Afghanistan to Russia and from there reached Germany and went to Japan with the help of Hitler. Subhash Chandra Bose spares all the soldiers who were with the British during the Second World War and lost in the war with countries like Russia, Germany and Japan.

In this way he prepared an army of his own by including those soldiers who had freed Indian soldiers from all the countries. He included about 55 thousand soldiers in his army along with assassins. That army was named "Azad Hind Army" by Subhash Chandra. It was also known as INA (Indian National Army). He also created an army of women named "Rani Lakshmibai of Jhansi".

How did Subhash Chandra Bose came in front of people for the first time?

Subhash Chandra Bose had a strong army ready, so now was the right time for him to come before the world. He was also called as Nteaji. Netaji first warned the world from a radio station in Berlin, Germany.

Netaji on Radio

He said: "I am Subhash Chandra Bose and I have come to make India free". The sound of Subhash Chandra's voice sent a wave of happiness to the people of India. Word had spread throughout the world that Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose was alive and returning to the country.

He used to give speeches on radio stations from abroad to motivate people to continue the freedom movement. Netaji was highly respected by the people because his speeches gave great guidance to the people.

What happened when Netaji was returning to India?

Subhash Chandra had prepared an army abroad and was preparing to return to India. But Netaji found it difficult to come to India from Germany so he sought help from Japan. Japan helped Netaji a lot abroad.

Plane Crash

Subhash Chandra Bose left Japan in a private plane with his colleague Colonel Habibur Rahman in the evening to come to India. But on the way Subhash Chandra Bose is believed to have died in a plane crash near Taiwan on 18 August 1945. After that there was no news of Subhash Chandra Bose.

What is the secret of Subhash Chandra Bose's death?

The news of Subhash Chandra Bose's plane crash spread across the country like a storm. No one was ready to believe that Netaji had died. The British said that he had gone underground again

People say that the British kidnapped and killed him. Because when Netaji's plane crash was reported abroad, they said that there was no plane crash, no news was received. After independence, there was an unknown baba in the country whom people called Subhash Chandra Bose.

Conclusion:

We have seen in this article that the British were so afraid of Subhash Chandra Bose that even the Britishers were looking for the proof of Netaji's death. Subhash Chandra Bose went to jail 11 to 12 times for the freedom of the country.

They used to shout slogans like "Tum Mujhe Khun Do, Me Tumhe Azadi Dunga" and "Jai Hind" to the people. The British themselves used to say that Subhash Chandra Bose contributed a lot to the liberation of India as a Freedom Fighter.

How did Khudiram Bose used to do oppose Britishers?

Standard

Greetings to my all readers, hope everyone is healthy and having fun. Today we are going to talk about Khudiram Bose:

  • who was executed at the age of 18,
  • also known as one among youngest Freedom Fighter in Indian History,
  • who was sold by his own parents from his elder sister,
  • From an early age he was not afraid to do any work against the British,
  • He also said about teaching the judge how to make bombs.

so let us get some information about Khudiram Bose (a freedom fighter of India).

Khudiram Bose

Who was Khudiram Bose?

Khudiram Bose was born on 3 December 1889 in Mohobani village of West Bengal. He was the third child of Trailokyanath. Before Khudiram, Trailokyanath's two children died at birth.

So he sold Khudiram by giving two handfuls of rice from his elder sister. It was called khudi when something was given and taken, so he was named Khudiram. Khudiram Bose was educated at Hamilton High School till ninth grade.

Why did Khudiram had to give up education?

Khudiram was involved in revolutionary organizations at a young age. Along with people like Arvind Ghosh, sister Nivedita, Praful Chaki started working in revolutionary organizations secretly from the British.

Khudiram also took part in the movement against the partition of Bengal in 1905. He also joined an organization called Yuganantar which published news. He also learned how to make bombs while staying with revolutionary organizations.

Khudiram did not know when his education was separated from these confined activities. So he left his studies from ninth standard and devoted himself to working for the freedom of the country.

How did Khudiram Bose used to do oppose Britishers?

Boys of Khudiram's age are thinking about what they will do and become in their lives. While having fun with their friends, Khudiram was working for the freedom of the country.

He had a kind of passion to make the country independent. He fearlessly distributed the anti-British pamphlet called "Sonar Bengal" among the people and was caught but also released after being threatened for sometime. Once Khudiram even threw a bomb near the police station.

The British did not see Khudiram throw the bomb but the full suspicion was on him. So he was captured but seeing his juvenile state the British let him off with a warning and without punishment.

What were the revolutionaries planning to kill Kingsford?

English Magistrate Kingsford used to oppress the people very mercilessly. He used to punish the revolutionaries very badly. If even a small child was found saying Vande Mataram, he was also punished with fifteen lashes. So the revolutionaries were disturbed by that, so the revolutionaries thought of killing Kingsford.

Once when Kingford was coming from the train, a revolutionary tried to stop the train halfway. But later it came to know that Kingsford was coming in another carriage. So he was saved. Another time Kingsford was sent with a bomb placed in a parcel so that he would open the packet and die. But the packet was opened by another employee and the employee died, Kingsford survived.

How did Khudiram bose and Praful Chaki killed Kingsford?

The revolutionaries tried to kill Kingsford several times but he survived. The British came to know that someone was trying to kill Kingsford. So Kingsford was replaced and sent to Muzaffarpur.

The revolutionaries then assigned the responsibility of killing Kingsford to Praful Chaki and Khudiram. They both were keeping an eye on Kingsford about how often does he leave his house, when does he go to visit friends and when does he go out with his family?

Bomb Explode

Been taking care of all this for weeks, one evening Khudiram saw a Kingsford baggi coming out of the club. At the same time, Khudiram threw a bomb on Baggi and as soon as the bomb went off, Baggi was completly burnt. At that time Khudiram Bose and Prafulla Chaki escaped from there.

How did British police caught Khudiram Bose and Prafulla Chaki?

As Khudiram and Prafulla Chaki had planned, both of them ran blindly in the opposite direction. After walking the whole night, Khudiram was hungry and thirsty. He goes to the nearest railway station and sits there.

There he hears some people talking that someone planted a bomb on the Kingsford buggy but he survived. Kingsford's baggi is blown away in the bomb blast, but he is shocked to hear that he survived.

Surprised, Khudiram asks the people that if Kingsford did not die, then who died? He then gets the reply that his wife and daughter died in the baggi instead of Kingsford. An Englishman who was standing near Khudiram saw him suspiciously and asked him some questions and took him to the police station.

When Khudiram was searched at the police station, a gun and some bomb-making materials were found from him. So the British police arrested him for the crime of throwing a bomb. On the other hand, Prafulla Chaki also fell into the hands of the British police. But Prafulla Chaki shot himself with a gun before going into police's hands.

Why was Khudiram punished at a young age?

British police arrested Khudiram in the bomb throwing case and asked if he was involved in putting the bomb on the Kingsford baggi. Then Khudiram Bose without any fear told the British that yes he himself had thrown a bomb in the baggi of Kingsford.

So the British police arrested him and put him in jail. The court decided to give death sentence to Khudiram. When Khudiram Bose was taken to be hanged, he shouted Vande Mataram with no sign of displeasure on his face.

He even said that he will be ready to sacrifice for the country in every birth. At last Khudiram Bose was only 18 years old when he was hanged on 11 August 1908. That is why he was the youngest among the revolutionaries to be executed.

How did patriots used to remember Khudiram Bose?

When the cremation procession of Khudiram Bose left, crowds of people gathered. Many people brought Khudiram's ashes from the crematorium in a gold box or an ivory box and wore them as amulets. The cloth workers used to write the name Khudiram Bose in small letters on the edge of the khadi dhoti and put it up for sale.
