Subhash Chandra Bose |
Who was Subhash Chandra Bose?
Subhash Chandra Bose was born in a wealthy family in the city of Cuttack, Orissa on 23 January 1897. From childhood, he was very gifted in studies. He passed the matriculation examination and went to the Presidency College, Calcutta for further studies. He stood second in the B.A. examination at the University of Calcutta. After that, he went to London to prepare for ICS (Indian Civil Service) on his father's request.
He completed the four-year ICS course in just seven months and secured fourth in that. In London, he surprised the British by passing the ICS examination in the fourth position. Another blow was given to the British when they heard that Subhash Chandra Bose was returning to India after leaving the ICS job.
Why Subhash Chandra Bose left the job of ICS in London?
The British were oppressing the poor citizens of the country very badly. In many places in the country, the British were seen putting up "No Dogs and No Indians" boards. The British increased taxes on most items which were becoming too difficult for the poor to afford. Back then, deadly diseases, cholera was spreading in the country.
If the poor people of the country do not have money for two meals, how can they cure the disease. Many people of the country lost their lives in the terrible disease. Such a state of the country was happening before the eyes of Subhash Chandra Bose. So he thought of leaving the ICS job in London to serve the backward and underprivileged people of the country.
Why did Subhash Chandra Bose created "Swaraj Party"?
Subhash Chandra Bose was determined to liberate the country, so he joined the Congress party with Gandhiji. But being in the Congress Party, he saw that a movement like non-cooperation would take a lot of time to liberate the country. If the country wants to be freed from the British soon, some lives will have to be given and some will have to be taken, then only the country will be freed soon.
Thinking like this, Subhash Chandra left Gandhiji's party and formed a separate party of his own. That party included members like Chitradana Das, M.R. Jayakal, Usha Mehta, Motilal Nehru along with Subhash Chandra Bose. And that party was named "Swaraj Party". The British were suffering a lot from the Swaraj Party.
The British were afraid that if the Swaraj Party remained, it would inflame the entire country, so the party was declared illegal and closed. And among the party members who ended up in jail included Subhash Chandra Bose. Subhash Chandra Bose was not among those people who offers another cheek by getting a slap on one cheek, but he believed that if anyone tried to do so, they should be slapped on both cheeks.
What trick Subhash Chandra Bose used to get out from the jail?
While in jail, Subhash Chandra was thinking of a trick to get out of jail soon. Subhash Chandra was thinking of giving up food and drink in jail so his body would get weak and due to weakness he would leave the jail soon and this trick worked.
The British thought that if anything happened to Subhash Chandra Bose in jail, people would be more outraged, so he was released from jail. The British released him from jail but kept him under house arrest, monitoring his movements.
But Subhash Chandra Bose, seeing nothing less, was secretly going abroad overnight with the help of his brother Sharad Shandra without informing anyone. The British were left looking for Subhash Chandra in the country.
How did Subhash Chandra Bose prepare his army in India while staying in abroad?
Subhash Chandra traveled from India through Afghanistan to Russia and from there reached Germany and went to Japan with the help of Hitler. Subhash Chandra Bose spares all the soldiers who were with the British during the Second World War and lost in the war with countries like Russia, Germany and Japan.
In this way he prepared an army of his own by including those soldiers who had freed Indian soldiers from all the countries. He included about 55 thousand soldiers in his army along with assassins. That army was named "Azad Hind Army" by Subhash Chandra. It was also known as INA (Indian National Army). He also created an army of women named "Rani Lakshmibai of Jhansi".
How did Subhash Chandra Bose came in front of people for the first time?
Subhash Chandra Bose had a strong army ready, so now was the right time for him to come before the world. He was also called as Nteaji. Netaji first warned the world from a radio station in Berlin, Germany.
Netaji on Radio |
He said: "I am Subhash Chandra Bose and I have come to make India free". The sound of Subhash Chandra's voice sent a wave of happiness to the people of India. Word had spread throughout the world that Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose was alive and returning to the country.
He used to give speeches on radio stations from abroad to motivate people to continue the freedom movement. Netaji was highly respected by the people because his speeches gave great guidance to the people.
What happened when Netaji was returning to India?
Subhash Chandra had prepared an army abroad and was preparing to return to India. But Netaji found it difficult to come to India from Germany so he sought help from Japan. Japan helped Netaji a lot abroad.
Plane Crash |
Subhash Chandra Bose left Japan in a private plane with his colleague Colonel Habibur Rahman in the evening to come to India. But on the way Subhash Chandra Bose is believed to have died in a plane crash near Taiwan on 18 August 1945. After that there was no news of Subhash Chandra Bose.
What is the secret of Subhash Chandra Bose's death?
The news of Subhash Chandra Bose's plane crash spread across the country like a storm. No one was ready to believe that Netaji had died. The British said that he had gone underground again
People say that the British kidnapped and killed him. Because when Netaji's plane crash was reported abroad, they said that there was no plane crash, no news was received. After independence, there was an unknown baba in the country whom people called Subhash Chandra Bose.
Conclusion:
We have seen in this article that the British were so afraid of Subhash Chandra Bose that even the Britishers were looking for the proof of Netaji's death. Subhash Chandra Bose went to jail 11 to 12 times for the freedom of the country.
They used to shout slogans like "Tum Mujhe Khun Do, Me Tumhe Azadi Dunga" and "Jai Hind" to the people. The British themselves used to say that Subhash Chandra Bose contributed a lot to the liberation of India as a Freedom Fighter.
